Marcelo Bielsa: We’re happy to have won

Head coach on Southampton victory.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Tuesday’s victory over Southampton.

The Whites made it three wins in a row with a 10th away win of the season at St Mary’s Stadium.

Bielsa was pleased with the result and the second half performance of his side, helping the Whites climb up to eighth spot.

“We’re happy to have won and also with the consequences on the league table,” said Bielsa.

“It’s very true (Southampton were better in the first half), the fact that we managed to score a goal facilitated things a little bit.

“Whoever scored first in this game was in better conditions to impose themselves.

“It wasn’t my influence, it was the profiles of the individuals in the second half who changed the game.

“The team in the second half looked a lot more like the team that it is, how we unlevelled the game in the second half, Southampton could have done the same in the first half.”

Bielsa also spoke about Tyler Roberts’ first Premier League goal and Gaetano Berardi’s Premier League debut in the match.

“I was happy that Tyler scored as he has played many games and not managed to do it.

“Berardi is in an excellent state of form and him coming on was very useful, he didn’t commit errors and added a lot.”
