Patrick Bamford gave discussed Saturday’s win over Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road, after scoring in his teams excellent 3-1 victory.

The forward netted his 15th of the campaign and he was delighted to put an end to a few games without a goal, in what has been a thoroughly impressive season.

“The last few games, for some reason we’ve shored up at the back and we’re not shipping as many chances but we’ve barely created any in the last four or five games,” Bamford explained.

“So it’s been frustrating for me, but it was nice today that we got both, we got the balance right.

“Our wingers were brilliant! They put the ball in the right position and they were difficult to defend, so the goal was coming eventually and fortunately it came from a cross.

“I didn’t set myself a target at the start of the season, but I said double figures would be respectable and I would be happy. 

“Since I pushed passed 10, I’ve just tried to get as many as I can. It has been frustrating not scoring for a few games but it was nice to be back on the scoresheet.”

With the victory over Spurs, Leeds have become the first team since West Ham United to go unbeaten at home against the ‘big six’ of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal during a Premier League campaign. 

On achieving that record, Bamford said: “I think it is important, especially home form. 

“I think the fact we did lose some of those away games, it was important to put it right against the teams we lost against.

“I think the first half was definitely stronger for us than the second, they came back into it a little bit, we stood strong.

"They are a top team with top players. It was one of them where we had to be fully concentrating all the time and the goal at the end settled a few nerves!”
