Head coach on Spurs victory.
Marcelo Bielsa has given his thoughts to the media after seeing his side comfortably beat Tottenham Hotspur, at Elland Road.
The Leeds United head coach felt his side put in one of their best performances of the season, defeating Champions League hopefuls Spurs by three goals to one.
“Considering the fortitude of the opponent and the way in which we attacked and defended and the possibility to play pretty much on even terms, it is one of the best of the season,” Bielsa stated.
“We could have scored more but we also could have conceded some more as well. I think the difference of two goals is adequate and fair.
“To have won by more goals, I think it wouldn’t have corresponded even if it was possible. To have won by only one goal, I also don’t think it would have been fair but they could have closed the difference too.”
Bielsa was quick to credit Rodrigo after he continued his return from injury by getting on the scoresheet, whilst also praising his defence for another solid display.
He said: “Rodrigo is a vital player for us. The obligation of all of us that are part of this group, is to manage to get him to be able to do everything he is capable of doing.
“After each appearance, he has played better than he has in the previous game. It’s important we manage to see the richness that he has, football wise.
“He’s a player who has the solutions to the problem of the game without anyone indicating them to him.
“Today was a difficult game for Diego Llorente, Pascal Struijk and Robin Koch. Pascal had a performance without errors and Llorente the same.
“They were very solid to defend and secure in the management of the ball and Robin was one of the bright lights of the game. He defended well and he didn’t lose the ball.”
