Leeds United put in a stunning performance at Elland Road, to defeat Tottenham Hotspur. Goals from Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo secured another fully deserved three points and moved the Whites back into the top half of the table.

The first big chance of the game came the way of Leeds. Good work from Gjanni Alioski and Jack Harrison on the wing set up an opportunity for Bamford, who struck low and hard, forcing Hugo Lloris into a smart save.

After Tyler Roberts had continued to pressure the Spurs defence with a powerful effort which was blocked, the early attacking play paid off.

A low cross into the box from Harrison was nearly turned into his own goal by Sergio Reguilon - forcing Lloris to save it - but following up on the rebound was Dallas to smash into the roof of the net and put his side ahead!

With their first real attack of the match, Tottenham equalised. Dele Alli raced through midfield and played a through ball for Son Heung-Min to latch onto. The forward controlled, then finished well into the bottom corner to level the scores.

Straight back on the front foot and showing an excellent reaction to conceding, only a superb save from Lloris again denied Harrison, after the winger had cut inside and powered an effort on goal. Moments later, Robin Koch tried his luck from range and it needed a Spurs defender to deflect it wide.

In an all action first half, on the half-hour mark Spurs showed the danger they have in their forward line once again, as Harry Kane came alive to chip over Illan Meslier into the back of the net. The linesman put his flag up for offside, and following a VAR check it was proven to be the correct decision.

As the match approached the interval, Leeds deservedly retook the lead. Referee, Michael Oliver played an excellent advantage after a foul on Dallas, allowing Harrison to pick up the loose ball and feed Alioski.

The defender powered into the box and cut the ball back with precision for Bamford to fire into the back of the net, allowing the striker to claim his 15th goal of the season and send his side in ahead at the whistle.

HALF TIME: Leeds United 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Neither team made any changes at the interval. Following on from the first 45, the ball was in the back of the net within the first few minutes. However, after Kane had rounded Meslier and fired in, the offside flag went up again to deny the striker.

The next good chance in what has an entertaining and attacking match fell the way of the visitors. Son found space on the left and ran into the box, but smashed a left-footed drive into the side netting.

Returning from injury, Raphinha was introduced into the action by Bielsa in place of Tyler Roberts. Just after an hour had passed, Mateusz Klich collected a neat pass from Harrison and forced Lloris to make yet another important save.

Ryan Mason reacted by bringing on Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura, replacing Gareth Bale and Alli.

Meslier was called into action again and had to be alert, when Serge Aurier broke forward and smashed at goal. It looked like it would be a cross, so Meslier had to readjust quickly and tip over the bar.

Leeds United’s ‘keeper was beaten a minute or two later, but in a frustrating afternoon for Kane, his free-kick hit the crossbar and went over for a goal-kick. Both teams made further changes, with Bamford going off for Rodrigo to come on, whilst Lo Celso departed for Tanguy Ndombele.

Just a few minutes after entering the action, Rodrigo put the Whites further ahead, getting his teams third. Fellow substitute Raphinha broke the offside trap, ran into the box and squared for the Spanish international to smash home.

That goal took Spurs’ remaining fight out of them Bielsa’s side were able to see the game out and claim a three points they had put in an incredible effort for, moving into ninth place in the table.
