Illan Meslier: This time we have more experience

Goalkeeper looks ahead to Liverpool fixture.

Illan Meslier has spoken to LUTV, prior to his side facing Liverpool at Elland Road.

The ‘keeper made his Premier League debut against the Premier League champions on the opening day of the season, and now believes is side are more experienced ahead of Monday’s clash.

“It was our first game in the Premier League, against the champions,” Meslier explained.

“This time we have more experience in this game and we are ready to fight against this big team.

“Against a big team is always difficult, we arrive with our own quality and we will try for our best performance, if we can win this game it is very good.

“If I can make a good performance to help my teammates, it will be very good for me.”

Last time out for the Whites, Meslier played a key part in helping Leeds to a memorable victory over Man City. Stuart Dallas’ last minute winner also saw the number one sprint up the pitch to join the celebrations in stoppage time.

He said: “I think it was a good victory, against the best team in the Premier League, and with one player less!

“I think it is important for us to win against a big team, now it is done, so now we are focused for our next game.

“That feeling… I was so happy for Stuey to score again, I remember it was like Swansea away when I got that feeling, it doesn’t happen a lot, it’s when it is important.”

Now with seven games remaining including the match-up against Jurgen Klopp’s side, the goal remains to finish as well as possible in the league.

“For the reason of the season, it is to finish in the top half of the table,” Meslier stated.

“We arrived from the Championship and I think that is a good target for us. We want to win the maximum games, to play well and to finish as high as possible."
