Kalvin Phillips: There’s still a lot of work to be done

Midfielder on looking forward to Liverpool test.

Kalvin Phillips is currently on a run of six straight victories, after being part of a Leeds side that has beaten Fulham, Sheffield United and Man City, whilst also playing in all of England’s last three successes as well.

The midfielder has been in great form during that time and is enjoying his football at the moment, as the season heads towards its conclusion.

Reflecting on the recent victory over top of the table Manchester City, Phillips expressed his views on the true value of teamwork.

He said: “It’s been a very busy period for myself and us here in Leeds. The win at the weekend topped it off, it was a great result for us in a very difficult situation.

“It just goes to show how good of a team we are and when we work together, how well we can play.

“Just the manner of us having 10 men, then playing behind the ball for almost all the game and beating them in that manner was an amazing feeling, we just wish there were fans there.

“After the sending off, it made everyone spur up and say we have to do this for the rest of the game.

“Run as much as we can, help each other as much as we can, we did that and then Stuey popped up with the winner!”

Next up for Kalvin and his Leeds United side is the test of facing Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp bringing his Premier League champions to Elland Road.

“There’s still a lot of work to be done and a big job to be done,” Phillips explained.

“The high is still there from the Man City game and we know Liverpool haven’t been doing great, but they have started picking up a little bit of form, so it will be a good game.

"We are very excited and if it is anything like the first game of the season it will be one I’ll be very happy to be involved in.

“We’re not going to change the way we play and I don’t think Liverpool will change the way that they play.

“It will be exciting, it will be a good game, hopefully we can go one better and try to beat them this time!”
