Liam Cooper: It was a great result

Captain on Blades win.

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper spoke to the media following Saturday’s victory over Sheffield United.

A Phil Jagielka own goal and a Jack Harrison strike secured the Whites all three points in the Yorkshire derby.

Cooper was delighted the side were able to make it three games unbeaten in the top-flight.

“We all know how important the derby games are and it was a deserved win in the end,” said Cooper.

“I thought we maybe could have scored a few more, but it was a great result for ourselves and our fans as well.

“It’s always massive (getting past 40 points), we are always looking to improve and the aim this season was to stay in this league.

“Now that we’ve got to the magic point line, hopefully we can get some more wins and progress up the table.

“We always strive to be better, we work hard every single day and that has to continue.”

Harrison provided a goal and an assist in the match and Cooper also spoke about his teammate.

He said: “Jack has been a different class.

“He went through a bit of a rough patch, but he’s got his head down and he works hard, nobody works harder than him at the training ground.

“I’m delighted for him today, he deserves that.”

Cooper ended, by dedicating the win to record goal scorer Peter Lorimer, who recently lost his battle with a long term illness.

“I said it on my social media, he is a legend we all aspire to be like, our condolences go out to his family and that win was for him,” declared Cooper.
