Kalvin Phillips: It’s a massive three points for us

Midfielder after victory at Craven Cottage.

Kalvin Phillips applauded the effort within the side, after the Whites had to fight hard for three points away at Fulham in the Premier League.

A goal in each half was enough for Leeds to win the match, who responded well to the hosts levelling proceedings before the break.

“I think every point against a team like this is a good three points,” Phillips explained.

“The lads worked hard tonight. We conceded another sloppy goal, but in the end we got the winner and the lads are buzzing in there.

“It’s just how the manager wants us to play, very energetic and very dynamic. We went close to conceding a goal and then go up the other end and Rapha pokes one in.

“Overall we’re very happy, it’s a massive three points for us.”

The midfielder heaped praise on his teammate and Leeds’ top-scorer, Patrick Bamford, who netted his 14th of the campaign at Craven Cottage, whilst also declaring that the side will continue to battle as hard as possible in search of a strong finish to the season.

Phillips said: “Pat’s a great player.

“He scores quite a few goals and gets in those positions to score goals. It’s credit to him, he’s in those positions whether he scores or not.

“I’m happy for him, I’m a little bit gutted he didn’t make the England team but there is always next time!

“We’ll just be taking every game as it comes. We are building on a good performance last week and we’ve got the three points today.

“There’s a little bit of a break now but it doesn’t mean we aren’t going to go and work hard, so hopefully we’ll just carry on.”
