Illan Meslier called up for France U21s

Leeds United goalkeeper in contention to face Denmark, Russia and Iceland

Illan Meslier is the latest Leeds United player to be called up to their national squad, after Sylvain Ripoll named him in the side for France U21s upcoming games.

Meslier has been in record breaking form in his first season in the Premier League, becoming the first goalkeeper under 21 to record nine clean sheets in a single season.

Making 27 appearances including the most recent 0-0 draw with Chelsea, Meslier has featured for France at U18, U19 and U20 level, but has faced competition from Montpellier's Dimitry Bertaud and Nantes' Alban Lafont for the U21s spot.

Ripoll's side will face Denmark on the 25th March, before entertaining Russia (28th March) and Iceland (31st March).
