Marcelo Bielsa: His team have never lost their identity

Head coach ahead of Arsenal fixture.

Marcelo Bielsa has spoken with the media, ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal.

The Whites sit one place ahead of the Gunners in the table and head to the Emirates in a confident mood, having won their last two away fixtures.

The Leeds United head coach began by giving an injury update on his squad.

He said: “There’s not a definite position at the moment on whether Kalvin Phillips will be able to play or not.

“In the case of Robin Koch, week to week we are verifying when he can return. With regards Diego Llorente, it’s a day to day thing.

"The daily evaluation of their injuries will start to tell us when they can return. For the moment, no player is coming back and Kalvin remains a doubt.”

Bielsa was asked his thoughts on facing Mikel Arteta for a third time whilst in charge of the Whites and how they can look to win the game this time, following November’s 0-0 draw at Elland Road.

“I think he’s a great coach,” Marcelo explained.

“His team have never lost their identity. They have different types of players for the same positions which demands knowledge of the style.

“We have to bear in mind that in that game they played half the game a player down so they were at a disadvantage, so any analysis made would not be a balanced one.

“We had so many shots, so one of the secrets to winning the game would be to increase our efficiency.”
