Marcelo Bielsa: We have the intention of being superior

Head coach on Palace fixture.

Marcelo Bielsa has spoken with the media, ahead of the Premier League match with Crystal Palace.

The Eagles will arrive at Elland Road on the of a confidence boosting away victory at Newcastle United.

Leeds United's head coach began by giving an injury update on his squad.

“It all depends on the evolution of their injuries, it’s not a question of days, more of weeks,” Bielsa explained, talking about Rodrigo and Ian Poveda.

“In the game against Leicester City, Rodrigo fell and his leg separated and it caused an elongation more than usual which caused the injury.

“I saw a picture of the position which both of his feet ended up and the distance between them was different to what we would expect. Poveda has an injury to his ankle.”

On the match itself, the Whites will be looking to return to winning ways at Elland Road on Monday evening, against a side they lost against earlier in the campaign.

Bielsa said: “I always think that anything we think or say about the opponent is better expressed on the pitch, because anything you say beforehand doesn’t have importance.

“Like every game, we have the intention of being superior to the opponent, to deserve to win the game and we will take every measure to ensure this is the case.

“Wilfried Zaha and Eberechi Eze played very well, which is the most significant thing I can add [on the previous match this season].

“Patrick van Aanholt is very good at attacking and they have two players for every position in attack.

“When you analyse an opponent, these are the big things you take into account.”
