Patrick Bamford: We showed we can compete

Striker on three points against Leicester City.

Patrick Bamford gave his thoughts to the media, following an impressive performance and win against Leicester City.

The forward scored a stunner and got two assists as his side came from behind to win 3-1 against the Foxes.

“It was a hard game,” he stated after the match.

“We knew from the home leg when we played them, that they are a top team and their position in the table shows that.

“We knew we had to concentrate for the whole game and really fight for it and we did in the end.

“Today we showed we can compete and to get the three points is a great achievement, the boys should be proud of themselves.”

After four matches without hitting the back of the net, Bamford’s left-footed stunner found the top corner and moved him on to 11 goals for the season.

He said: “I would love to say I don’t think about it, but all strikers do!

“To be honest, today was more important to give a good performance for me, because in the last couple of games I have been a little bit off it.

“So that was the main aim, and it was always nice to get a goal.

“It was also nice to get the assists, I think a lot of the boys expected me to shoot on the last one, Jack had it on a plate, so I couldn’t shoot there.

“I think if I shoot there and I miss, it’s not worth it, it’s all for the team and we needed that extra comfort, so it was important to score again.”
