A number of Leeds United players have been in action for their respective nations over the last week.

There has been plenty of action to catch up on, with highs and lows for our players whilst away.

Ezgjan Alioski - North Macedonia

History maker! Despite the troubles of 2020, Alioski has made it a year to remember in his footballing career. Following promotion with the Whites this summer, the popular figure has now played an integral part in gaining North Macedonia’s Euro 2020 place. This will be the first time his country have played in a major tournament and it was secured with a 1-0 victory away at Georgia. Alioski played the full 90 minutes for his side and will now line up against the Netherlands, Ukraine and Austria in Group C next summer.

Liam Cooper - Scotland

Cooper will be returning to Elland Road in great spirits, after being part of a Scotland side that have become the first to qualify for a major tournament since Euro 96. A penalty shootout victory away in Serbia will see Steve Clarke’s side compete at Euro 2020. The Tartan Army returned to Nations League action on a high, after such a good result. Cooper played the full 90 minutes away in Slovakia, but unfortunately for his side a 1-0 defeat there followed by defeat against Israel - with the same scoreline - would see a second placed finish in the table, missing out on promotion from Group B2.  Despite defeat, it was a successful trip overall for Cooper with a place at next summer’s European Championships secured.

Mateusz Klich - Poland

Continuing his record of playing in every match for club and country during the 2020/21 season, Klich played the full 90 minutes as his Poland side defeated Ukraine 2-0. It was an international friendly, but another good result for Jerzy Brzęczek’s side. The Eagles had to wait a full week to return to action, in Group A1 of the Nations League against the Netherlands. Klich once again played the full 90 for his side, who took the lead after just five minutes. All their hard work was to be undone in the final 15 of the match, as KNVB turned it around and won 2-1. This left Poland in third place in their group, meaning they will continue to play in the highest tier of the Nations League next time out.

Stuart Dallas - Northern Ireland

The international break was bittersweet for Dallas, who achieved two big personal milestones, but was denied an opportunity to be at the Euro 2020 finals with Northern Ireland.  An 87th minute equaliser at home to Slovakia took their play-off final tie to extra time, but a Michal Duris goal in the 110th minute knocked the GAWA out, sending the visitors through. Dallas played the full 120 minutes and in doing so, earned cap number 50 for his country.  It was then back to Nations League action with two more matches in Group B1. First up was an away clash against Austria. Dallas was immensely proud to have captained his side the first time. They gained a 1-0 lead with just 15 minutes remaining, only to then concede in the final 10 minutes meaning the hosts went away with all three points. The final match ended in a 1-1 draw with Romania, where once again the Leeds full-back played the full 90 minutes. Northern Ireland have been relegated from League B.

Robin Koch - Germany

There was 270 minutes of action for our German central defender over the last week, as he added another three caps to his tally, cementing his spot in the side. Two solid wins began the week, when a 1-0 victory over Czech Republic on home soil in a friendly was backed up with a comfortable 3-1 win against Ukraine, in Group A4 of the Nations League.  Koch’s side finished second in their group, after defeat away from home in Spain saw the hosts take top spot in the final group fixture.

Tyler Roberts - Wales

Wales continue to get stronger at international level and Roberts was part of a side that gained two more wins in the Nations League, meaning his country finished top of Group B4, therefore securing promotion to the top flight of competition next time out. Coming off the bench to help his side on both occasions, Roberts played his part in a 1-0 victory over Ireland and a 3-1 win against Finland. Both matches were at home, in the Cardiff City Stadium.
