Mateusz Klich: Hopefully we can play the same as we did against Aston Villa

Midfielder on Leicester City.

Mateusz Klich discussed life in the Premier League, in an interview with LUTV.

The 30-year-old midfielder has started every game for the Whites so far this season, scoring two goals.

Reflecting back on the trip to Aston Villa, Klich stated that he hoped it was ‘just the beginning’ for his side, ahead of a long season.

He said: “I think it was a very good second half and a strong first half as well. In general it was a very good game from us.

"This is just the beginning so hopefully we can repeat this.

“We’ve had many good games in my time here, I remember a couple of games we dominated so much, but they were mostly in the Championship, this is different, this is Premier League.

“It was a great game and we got a couple of days off after and then we started preparation for the Leicester game.

"Hopefully we can play the same as we did against Aston villa."

Monday will see former Premier League champions, Leicester City arrive at Elland Road and Klich wants to get back to winning ways on home turf, following defeat to Wolves last time out.

“I think it will be a very similar game to the Wolves game,” Klich explained.

“I watched Leicester versus Arsenal, they had three centre-halves and played on the counter-attack.

"We have to do better this time and score goals.

“Against Wolves, everything was fine but we missed chances and lost the game in the end, so we need to improve on that.

“In my opinion, you need to score goals to win games, but it’s also important to have a clean sheet and stop your opponent from scoring goals.

“It’s essential to winning the game for us, to defend as a team.”

Life overall so far in the Premier League has gone well for the Polish international.

As well as playing in every match so far for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, he has also featured regularly for his national team too.

On his form, Klich said: “I’m just trying to do everything that I did in the last two seasons in the Championship, trying to play the same way of football.

“As you can see, we play the same as a team and a lot of individual performances are similar to our last two seasons.

“To be fair when we play against different clubs than in the Championship we don’t really care, it’s all about us.

“We want to show that we’re good and we want to prove ourselves in the Premier League, which is so good so far."
