Marcelo Bielsa: I’m very happy for Patrick

Head coach on Aston Villa win.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Friday’s victory over Aston Villa.

Patrick Bamford’s second half hat-trick secured Leeds three points and a third Premier League win of the season.

Bielsa gave his verdict on the match and was thrilled with his number 9, who took his season tally to six goals.

“It was a good performance,” said Bielsa.

“It was better in the second half, but the first half was also good.

“We defended well and attacked well and we had the luck to score before they did, as they had a few chances as well.

“I’m very happy for Patrick, they were all very nice goals, some of the nicest goals he has scored for us.”

Bielsa also spoke about the decision to replace Pascal Struijk with Jamie Shackleton early in the first half.

“He got a yellow card early on and there was a lot of agility and mobility in the middle of the park and I wanted to take him off as a result,” explained Bielsa.

“After the yellow card he also had another foul which put him at the limit and this worried me.
