Barry Douglas joins Blackburn Rovers

Full-back completes loan move.

Leeds United defender Barry Douglas has today completed a move to Blackburn Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old Scotland international joined the Whites from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018, after helping them win the Sky Bet Championship.

His Leeds debut came in Marcelo Bielsa’s first game in charge, as Stoke City were beaten 3-1 at Elland Road, with Douglas providing an assist for Liam Cooper.

During the 2018/19 campaign, Douglas made 27 Championship appearances for the Whites, with Leeds reaching the Play-Offs for the first time since 2005.

He endeared himself to Leeds United supporters during the last outing of his first campaign, after the Whites had used all three substitutions, Douglas played on with a season-ending knee ligament injury, to help Bielsa’s side come from behind and beat Millwall 3-2.

Last season, he featured 15 times in the Championship for Leeds, including the crucial victories over Fulham, Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City following the lockdown period, to help Leeds return to the top-flight for the first time in 16 years.

A popular character on and off the pitch, Douglas’ last game for Leeds came against Hull City in the Carabao Cup in September.

Everyone at Leeds United would like to thank Barry for his contribution at the club, where he will always be welcome and always be a champion, we wish him the best of luck for the future.
