Marcelo Bielsa: We will try to play the same way we always do

Head coach on Manchester City.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City at Elland Road.

The Whites come into the match in fine form, having recorded back-to-back wins in the top-flight against Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday.

Manchester City finished as runners-up to Liverpool in the top-flight last season and Bielsa spoke about the upcoming match.

“It’s one of the biggest games in the Premier League,” said Bielsa.

“We will try to play the same way we always do, we wouldn’t know how to do it any other way.

“I never find it very comfortable to talk about an opponent’s weaknesses.

“The season is very short and it’s very hard to make conclusions as to whether they are weaker than before.

“But to talk about an opponent’s weakness in public is never a comfortable thing.”

Manchester City have a number of injuries in attack, with the likes of Sergio Aguero set to be missing and Bielsa spoke about the situation.

He said: “Good players, and Aguero is a good player, are always helpful for a team.

“I would say the same thing about Jesus and the same thing about Raheem Sterling.

“I think that Sterling is a great attacker, playing out wide or through the middle, he’s a goal-scorer.

“So I don’t think it’s a problem that City won’t resolve.”

Bielsa also has a selection dilemma of his own, with Jack Harrison unable to play against his parent club.

“When a player comes out of the starting 11 and another player comes in and you have to give an opinion on this, we have to mix a lot of common places,” said Bielsa.

“Jack Harrison is very important and we are sad he is not going to play, but Ezgjan Alioski is able to do as well or better than Harrison.

“Then after there is the game where you have to show.”
