Patrick Bamford: Hopefully I can keep it up

Forward on Fulham win.

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford spoke to the media following Saturday’s victory over Fulham at Elland Road.

For a second week running the Whites played out a seven-goal thriller in the Premier League, this time coming out on top.

Leeds led 4-1 during the second half, before Fulham pulled two goals back and Bamford gave his view on the game.

“Last weekend was a free hit, we were playing the best team in the country and we showed a good side of ourselves, there were positives and negatives,” said Bamford.

“Today was a crucial match against another team which came up last year and we wanted to win, but that was a little bit too close in the end!

“I think there will be a few long meetings this week just to pick up on what we can do better, but we won and that is the main thing.

“We only had two pre-season games, so I don’t think everyone is up to full speed yet.

“I think give it five matches, we will be in the flow of it and more settled, hopefully it is something we adjust to and we are a fit team as you can see.

“Moments change games and Fulham’s second goal caught us off guard and the third one wasn’t long after.

“I think that made us panic a little bit and obviously we managed in the end to see it out.

“Watching the end from the side-lines was horrible though, it wasn’t a nice watch when I came off.

Bamford also spoke about his own performance, having now netted two goal in two games.

He said: “It’s a nice start and hopefully I can keep it up.

“The main thing is I am doing my bit for the team and if that is scoring goals, it is probably the best thing a striker can do, if it’s not it’s doing the other things and whilst it is tiring, I just do as much as I can and hopefully the team appreciate it.

“We’re very demanding, Marcelo Bielsa has installed that into us, we knit pick everything and the fine details and we are all willing to learn and he’s the perfect guy to learn from.”
