Marcelo Bielsa: We think Cooper will be ready

Head coach on Fulham.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Fulham.

Both newly promoted sides come into the game on the back of a defeat last weekend and will be looking to bounce back at Elland Road.

Leeds defeated Fulham 3-0 last time the two sides met and Bielsa is hoping to build on the performance last weekend to secure another three points against the Cottagers.

“Every game is a new story,” said Bielsa.

“We will try to correct all the things we did badly against Liverpool and we will try to maintain all the good things we had in that performance also.

“A positive performance always gives a certain amount of optimism and a defeat generates sadness.

“This week the two of those things combined.

“The season is very new and the adaptation of the new players is going to take a while, which is the same for everybody.

“As a result I don’t know whether it’s going to be the same Fulham from last season or whether any of the new players will play on Saturday.”

Bielsa also gave an update on team news, with captain Liam Cooper in contention to return.

He said: “We think Cooper will be ready to play the game on Saturday.

“There are no new injuries from the last few days.

“Adam Forshaw is taking part in collective training today apart from any actual playing of football and next week his rehabilitation will continue.”
