Rodrigo: The Premier League is special

Forward on new campaign.

New Leeds United signing Rodrigo spoke to the media from the Spain camp, about joining Leeds United and the upcoming season.

The striker is currently on international duty and will link up with the Whites following Sunday’s game with Ukraine.

Leeds broke the club’s transfer record to bring Rodrigo to the club from Valencia and can’t wait to return to the top-flight of English football.

“It’s an honour for me to be the record signing,” said Rodrigo.

“When I arrived at Valencia six years ago I was also the most expensive signing of the club.

“For me, it is not an extra pressure or anything like that, it is something natural and is part of my professional life.

“I just want to work hard, feel comfortable and show my football and raise my performance.

“The Premier League is special because it is very competitive, but we always want to play against the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

“I’m also looking forward to playing against Manchester United and my national team-mate David De Gea, it will be special for me, I’m ready to score some goals and I’m looking forward to coming up against him.

“Having already played in the Premier League is important, because I need to adapt myself for the league and team, but I already have this experience.

“Playing at Bolton was an important time, it was my first year as a professional player and gave my football a lot of things.

“Everybody knows Leeds is a historic club and everyone is excited to start this new season and the club are doing a big effort to make the best team possible.

“All of the players are focused on doing our best and to maintain the club at the top level of English football.

“In life and football you need to be ambitious and I’m very excited and hungry to achieve important things with Leeds, as I have done in the past with Valencia and the national team.”
