Robin Koch: Leeds is such a big club

New signing on joining Leeds United.

Leeds United’s latest recruit Robin Koch spoke to LUTV after joining the club from Bundesliga outfit SC Freiburg.

The German international defender completed his move to Elland Road on Saturday, signing a four-year contract with the club.

The 24-year-old spoke of his delight at completing the deal to join the Whites and the prospect of playing in England’s top-flight.

“I’m very happy to be finally here after such a long time,” said Koch.

“I’ve known about the interest for six months, my agent told me Leeds were interested in me and I’ve had enough time to think about it, speak with Victor Orta and now I’ve made the decision and I’m here.

“Marcelo Bielsa was one of the main points for me to join Leeds, I’ve heard from everybody he is one of the best coaches and I’m really looking forward to the first session with the team and the coach.

“Leeds is such a big club and after winning the second league last year, Leeds are back.

“I’m happy to be here in the Premier League at such a big club, for the fans here it is a dream to be back in the Premier League and it is a dream for me also.

“The Premier League is one of the biggest leagues in the world, I’ve played three years in the Bundesliga which is also a big league, but I think the Premier League is the next step for me.

“There are so many big clubs and I’m happy to be in the Premier League, getting to play against these clubs.

“My attributes aren’t typical for England perhaps in the past, but I’m good with the ball and opening the game which I think will be good for Leeds and I’m good at heading and tackles.”
