Jamie Shackleton: A moment I’ve dreamed of

Midfielder on title win and first goal.

Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton spoke to LUTV following Sunday’s victory over Derby County.

Shackleton scored his first ever goal for the club, which proved to be the winner, as part of a 3-1 victory at Pride Park.

The 20-year-old admitted the goal capped off what has been a perfect weekend, with the Whites becoming champions of the Sky Bet Championship and securing promotion back to the Premier League.

“That’s a moment I’ve dreamed of,” said Shacketon.

“Not only am I champions with my boyhood club, but to get my first goal as well, is just a perfect day.

“The occasion and us being back in the Premier League is something I’ve dreamed of since being a little kid and it has been a great few days.

“We’re not the team to lay down and roll over, though, just because we have won the league.

“We knew we had two games left prior to the Derby game and we wanted to win them both and we want the points tally to be as big as it can be.

“We’ve done half of that by beating Derby and it’s a great place to come and get three points.

“We’ll enjoy the win, but then we have another game on Wednesday and we can enjoy it even more then.”
