Head coach on Barnsley win.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Thursday’s victory over Barnsley.

The Whites were 1-0 winners at Elland Road and the result put Leeds just one point away from the Premier League after a 16-year absence.

Bielsa gave his thoughts on the match, admitting it was a difficult match for his side, but was pleased the team was able to hold on and earn a vital three points.

“In the second half we couldn’t control the match and it was difficult for us defending,” said Bielsa.

“Even if in the first half, we didn’t have a big impact or play great, we could control the match and we created some chance.

“Barnsley is a team in attack who have a lot of players which can unbalance the match.

“When the match progressed they added more offensive players and took off defensive players and we organised ourselves to resolve the adaptations we had to resolve.

“It was difficult for us to defend well and tactically we didn’t attack a lot.

“It was a collective effort, we had to run a lot to keep the result and I value a lot the courage and effort all of the players did to keep the result.
