Marcelo Bielsa: Stoke are a creative team

Head coach on Thursday’s clash.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media ahead of Thursday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Stoke City.

The Whites welcome the Potters to Elland Road, looking for back to back wins in the division, following Saturday’s 3-1 victory at Blackburn.

Bielsa gave his view on Stoke and also spoke about the impact of Michael O’Neill, who became boss at the Bet 365 Stadium back in November.

“Stoke are a creative team, their players have clear technical resources,” said Bielsa.

“They respect a common idea of play, but it’s obvious they have a very good impact individually.

“The offensive players of Stoke is one of the more positive points of the opponent.

“All of the characteristics which have impacted the team is linked with the impact of the manager of the team.

“The manager has enabled the players to show their characteristics and abilities.

“He has tried to make all of the players work collectively to show what they can do.”

Bielsa also gave an update on Stuart Dallas and Helder Costa who both missed the trip to Blackburn on Saturday.

“Probably they will play, they have trained as normal,” said Bielsa.

“In case they are not able to play, Ezgjan Alioski and Barry Douglas will play.

“In this period of matches, we know that every team is going to need at least 15/16 players.

“The important thing for us, is that when we have to do any substitution, the player who goes onto the pitch has a positive performance.

“This has been most important in the games Alioski, Douglas and Pablo Hernandez have done.”
