Marcelo Bielsa: We play the closest team to us to fight for promotion

Head coach on Fulham.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Fulham.

The Whites are looking to get back to winning ways in the division and a victory over the Cottagers could see Leeds move back to the top of the league, dependant on other results.

Fulham currently sit in this place, seven points behind Bielsa’s side and the Whites head coach provided some positive team news.

“Pablo Hernandez has trained with us all the week and tomorrow we will finish the work with him,” said Bielsa.

“According to how he feels depends if he is in the match on Saturday.

“It wasn’t a big deal because he had a little muscular problem and he recovered himself in 10 days.

“A short recovery period points to it not being serious and Pablo knows, very well, his own body.

“We want to wait until tomorrow (Friday) so he can confirm how he feels.

“Everybody else is healthy, the only situation we had was Pablo.

“Of course Adam Forshaw is not going to be involved.”

Bielsa also spoke about returning to Elland Road for the first time since March.

He said: “Of course, playing without supporters is not the same as if you play with the fans, there is a difference there.

“The feeling I have, is the obligation of the home team has disappeared here, the home team is not forced to win because the fans are not there.

“On the other hand, this match is so important both teams are going to go for the match.

“The eight matches left are going to generate the same expectation until the situation is defined.

“Every match is important and this match has a more valuable meaning because we play with the direct and closest team to us to fight for promotion.”
