On this day in 1975, 50,393 supporters packed into Elland Road as Leeds United welcomed Barcelona in the European Cup semi-final first leg.

Goals from Billy Bremner and Allan Clarke secured Leeds a 2-1 victory over the Spanish side, captained by Dutch legend Johan Cruyff.

Leeds then went on to draw the second leg at the Nou Camp 1-1 after Peter Lorimer’s early opener, to reach the 1975 European Cup final.
