Leeds United made it five Sky Bet Championship victories in a row without conceding, with a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town at Elland Road.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa was forced to make one change from the side which beat Hull City 4-0 last weekend, with Kalvin Phillips missing out through injury and Gaetano Berardi coming into the side.

Leeds made the perfect start to the match taking the lead inside three minutes.  Jack Harrison’s cross from the left was met by a thunderous Luke Ayling volley which bounced down off the underside of the crossbar and into the back of the net, in a goal of the season contended giving Jonas Lossl no chance.

After an even 20 minutes, Trevoh Chalobah played a good one-two to break into the Leeds box, before striking at goal, but he couldn’t get the better of Illan Meslier.

Leeds almost added a second goal in the 33rd minute.  The Whites counter attacked following a Huddersfield corner and Harrison crossed for Helder Costa, but he put the chance wide.

Three minutes later, an Ayling turned provider when his cross was met by a powerful Harrison volley, but he saw his strike go inches past the post.

Ben White then went close just before the break when he glanced a header wide following a Leeds free kick, with the Whites holding the advantage at the break.

Leeds made a bright start to the second period, Stuart Dallas crossed for Harrison, but he couldn’t get the better of Lossl with his header.

Mateusz Klich then played Patrick Bamford in at goal, but once more, Lossl kept the deficit to just one goal with a good save from a narrow angle.

Leeds doubled the lead in the 52nd minute.  Pablo Hernandez whipped in a free kick and Lossl made an unbelievable stop to deny White’s header, but could do nothing about Bamford’s follow up, sending Elland Road wild.

A minute after the Leeds goal, Huddersfield nearly got back into the game when Chris Willock’s cross headed towards the Leeds goal, landing on the roof of the net.

Klich teed up Harrison who struck just wide, before Hernandez nutmegged Chalobah, before striking on goal, seeing his effort well blocked.

Leeds then went so close to adding a third in the 59th minute.  Harrison unleashed a wonderful strike, which hit the angle of the post and crossbar, before the ball fell to Hernandez, but his rebound was well blocked.

Lewis O’Brien fired wide for the Terriers from 25 yards, before Emile Smith Rowe forced Meslier into action.

In the closing stages, Lossl made a good stop as substitute Tyler Roberts tried to play Harrison in on goal, whilst Richard Stearman saw a late penalty appeal turned away for the visitors as the Whites secured another three points.
