Head coach on Hull City win.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media after Saturday’s fine 4-0 victory over Hull City.

The Whites recorded the joint biggest win of the season at the KCOM Stadium thanks to strikes from Luke Ayling, Pablo Hernandez and a Tyler Roberts brace.

Bielsa gave his assessment of the game and was pleased to record such an emphatic victory over the Tigers.

“We will evaluate the result of today, but we know we played against a team who sold their best two players,” said Bielsa.

“In addition they had five or six players injured and we have to put our performance in the right place.

“Being efficient has been one of our objectives, it has been difficult in the competition to get it but I wish from now we can keep this efficiency when we have chances.

“In the first half we didn’t defend well, we started the game with one line of four defenders and after we changed to one line of three defenders, so we put Kalvin Phillips in front of the line of three.

“We then put Stuart Dallas, Mateusz Klich and Pablo Hernandez behind the three strikers, even though it was hard for us to manage this shape naturally.

“After we spoke in the dressing room, in the second half, the second goal arrived fast and helped us to improve our performance.”

Bielsa also spoke about the performance of goalkeeper Illan Meslier who made his first league start for the Whites.

He said: “Illan was calm and confident.

“He took risks and was good in the aerial play.

“He gave us the feeling that he is confident.”
