Liam Cooper: To a man we were a different class

Skipper on Bristol City win.

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper spoke to LUTV following Saturday’s victory over Bristol City.

The Whites got back to winning ways at Elland Road, courtesy of Luke Ayling’s 16th minute strike, which secured Leeds 1 -0 win.

Cooper was delighted with the result and performance of the side, which moved Leeds three points clear of third placed Fulham in the Sky Bet Championship.

“It was a good win, I think to a man we were a different class,” said Cooper.

“The energy levels were there, the intensity levels were there and we are all buzzing to get the three points and come away with a good result.

“We came out from the first minute and I thought we were the better team and should maybe have won the game by three or four.

“That’s no disrespect to Bristol, but we created a lot of chances and limited them to very few chances and that is the way we want to play and those are the games we want to be involved in.

“We haven’t been on a great run and haven’t picked up as many points as we would have liked, but I think the performances have always been there.

“Sometimes we aren’t getting the rub of the green or taking our chances, but one goal was enough on Saturday and I’m delighted with the clean sheet as well and the boys are very proud of themselves.”

“The clean sheet was for Kiko Casilla, he has come in for a lot of stick, but I thought he was a different class on Saturday.

“He commanded his box, he didn’t have to do much, but when he did he was there for us and fair play to him.

“He’s a great lad and a confident lad and we are all buzzing for him.”
