Leeds United left the City Ground empty handed, as Nottingham Forest defeated the Whites 2-0 in the Sky Bet Championship.

Forest had the first chance of the game, Lewis Grabban kept the ball in play and Tiago Silva then met Samba Sow's cross, but couldn’t direct a header on target.

Silva tried his luck from range in the 10th minute, but he couldn’t get the better of Kiko Casilla who made a decent save.

Joe Worrall saw a penalty appeal at a corner turned down, before Silva forced Casilla into another really good stop, this time with the Whites keeper tipping the effort around his post.

Leeds’ first real chance came in the 29th minute, the referee played a good advantage following a foul on Jack Harrison.  Pablo Hernandez continued into the box and found Ezgjan Alioski who saw his strike deflect wide.

Two minutes after Alioski’s chance, Forest took the lead.  Sammy Ameobi drove forwards, before striking at goal and his powerful effort got the better of Casilla.

Harrison then teed up Alioski on the edge of the box, but the Macedonian couldn’t direct his effort on target.

Half time: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Leeds United

Forest almost doubled their lead nine minutes into the second half.  Catching Leeds on the counter attack, Joe Lolley drove forwards before playing the ball to Grabban in space, but he fired straight at Casilla.

Lolley forced Casillla into action from a free kick, before firing just wide with another set-piece from 25 yards.

New signing Jean-Kevin Augustin made his debut and won Leeds a corner and from the resulting play, Liam Cooper saw his header head towards goal, but Forest stopper Brice Samba just prevented it from crossing the line.

Helder Costa then went close when he did well to get on the end of a Stuart Dallas cross at the back post, but couldn’t find the target with his head under pressure.

Harrison played Mateusz Klich into the Forest box as the Whites continued to press and he fired just wide from a narrow angle.

As Leeds carried on going forwards in search of an equaliser, Forest sealed the game with virtually the last kick of the game.  Lolley won the ball of Harrison to go through on goal and laid the ball off to substitute Tyler Walker who tapped home.
