Marcelo Bielsa: Everything you cannot manage was against us

Head coach on QPR loss.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Saturday’s loss against Queens Park Rangers.

A controversial first half goal from Nahki Wells saw the R’s take all three points at the Kiyan Prince Stadium.

Bielsa spoke about the decisions made during the game and gave his verdict on the performance of his side.

He said: “In football, you have a lot of situations you cannot manage and sometimes those situations damage teams or play in favour of one team.

“Today, everything you cannot manage in one match was against us.

“The team played according to what we are looking for in the team, our style means trying to control the importance of the opponents’ attackers which we achieved that today.

“We played in the opposite half, we tried to make double or triple the chances of the opponent and we got that.

“Of course, there are things we wished were different, for instance our set-pieces.

“Sometimes you need individual performances that give a good answer to this kind of tough match.”

Bielsa also spoke about Kalvin Phillips, who will be missing for the next three matches following his late red card.

“He’s a very important player for us,” said Bielsa.

“He never misses a game and we have to replace him.

“One option is Adam Forshaw, but it’s at the same time he’s not available, who would be the natural substitution for him.

“We have to find a solution for this.”
