Marcelo Bielsa: We have to learn

Head coach on Sheffield Wednesday defeat.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Saturday’s defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Whites suffered a first league defeat in four in the Yorkshire derby, as two late goals secured the Owls victory at Elland Road.

Bielsa gave his verdict on the match, which was just Leeds’ second home defeat in the Sky Bet Championship this season.

“This is a situation we have seen before,” said Bielsa.

“We have to learn if we have weak points in the performance in the match.

“We didn’t risk losing the ball in our half during 85 minutes, in this time we created chances to try to make a difference.

“Even if we didn’t play a brilliant match in attack, we have an average of 10 chances per match.

“When you create those chances the attack is good.

“We lost two goals in the last five minutes and the match was for them.

“This has happened a lot, we know we have to protect ourselves from those situations.

“Again, one mistake is we thought we had learned about this.

“We have to focus more on the avoidable goals and try to not receive those goals.

“What we can do in attack is create chances to win, but in this case I didn’t think it was a problem with the level of our players.”
