Barry Douglas: We gave a good account of ourselves

Full-back on Arsenal defeat.

Leeds United left-back Barry Douglas spoke to LUTV following Monday’s FA Cup defeat at Arsenal.

The Whites dominated the first period at the Emirates Stadium without breaking the deadlock and were undone by Reiss Nelson’s second half strike, which secured the Gunners a 1-0 victory and passage to the fourth round.

Douglas believes there are many positives the Whites can take away from the encounter with the Premier League outfit and is hoping the side can replicate similar performances going forward.

“It was nice to be back out there and get 90 minutes, but we’re a bit disappointed coming away from the game,” said Douglas.

“I thought we gave a great account of ourselves and we matched them, on our day we would have converted some of our chances.

“We’re a team that when we’re on it and at the races, pressing like that we can cause problems for any team.

“Things changed in the second half, they pressed us higher up to stop us playing out, but it was a good game overall.

“It was a great spectacle to be a part of, we’re a bit gutted not to take anything from the game, but its nights like this that you want to be involved in.

“We’ve set the standard, that’s the demands we put on ourselves and what the manager puts on us and it is up to us to sustain that now.”
