Mateusz Klich: I feel very happy and proud

Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich spoke exclusively to LUTV after penning a new deal with the club last weekend.

Klich who has played in every game in the Sky Bet Championship under Marcelo Bielsa, committed his future to the club by signing a new four-and-a-half-year deal.

Ahead of linking up with the Poland national side, Klich spoke of his delight at putting pen to paper on a new contract at Elland Road.

“I feel very happy and proud that I can stay for longer here in Leeds,” said Klich.

“In the summer I told my agent I wanted to extend my contract at Leeds, so I am stuck with you for a long time!

“My daughter was born in Leeds, it feels right here and I love to play at Elland Road.

“Last season I had the season of my life and I just want to continue playing like I did and play more games.

“The start wasn’t as I imagined, but you have a lot of ups and downs in football, it wasn’t so nice at the beginning, but I survived, I wanted to stay and wanted to prove I could play for Leeds United.

“I’ve done my best to get here and now I’ve signed a new deal with Leeds and I am very happy.

Klich also spoke about the impact of Marcelo Bielsa on his game and his hopes of winning promotion with the Whites.

Klich said: “He has had a big influence on my career now, he has changed me and I am very glad he came and helped me.

“He is one of the reasons I wanted to extend my contract as well.

“We are more confident on the pitch, we are losing less goals and we are aware of how long the season is, so hopefully this will be our year.

“I can guarantee everyone in the squad and all of the staff want to get to the Premier League as soon as possible, so hopefully this year will end up better than last year.”
