Tyler Roberts: Our home form is a credit to our fans

Forward on Blackburn Rovers win.

Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts spoke to LUTV following Saturday’s victory over Blackburn Rovers.

Roberts, who made his second start of the season for Leeds following a comeback from injury played a key role in the result, notably for the key pass which led to Luke Ayling winning a first half penalty which was converted by Patrick Bamford.

The 20-year-old spoke about the performance, expressed his delight for fellow team-mate Bamford and heaped praise on the Elland Road support.

“The football wasn’t as fluent as it normally was, but we still worked hard for each other and grinded it out to get the three points,” said Roberts.

“I’m buzzing for Patrick (Bamford), it’s been a long time coming, he’s kept focused and he deserves it and I’m sure the goals will continue to come now.

“I think our home form is a credit to our fans, they are amazing, they cheer us on and give us a massive lift, so we owe a massive thank you to them.

“I don’t think the league table matters too much at the minute, we’ve just got to keep getting the three points and try to win every game and we will look at the table a bit closer to the end of the season.

“I think the squad is stronger than last year, it is hard to keep your place in the team, but that is good.

“You need competition for places and it keeps everyone on their toes and working hard.”

Roberts will now link up with the Wales national side over the international break and he spoke about the upcoming period.

He said: “Getting back into the starting 11 here you want to keep playing, but I love going away with Wales.

“Hopefully I can get some game time there though and then come back and can carry on with how we’ve been doing recently.”
