Kalvin Phillips: I can’t put it into words.

Midfielder on Birmingham City win.

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips spoke to LUTV following Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Birmingham City at Elland Road.

Phillips netted the only goal of the game, to ensure the club’s much anticipated centenary match ended with three points for the Whites.

An emotional Phillips, born in the city spoke of his delight at getting the match winner.

“I can’t put it in to words to be honest, I never thought I would be scoring today of all days,” said Phillips.

“The team played well, we did well as a group and dug it out until the end and got the three points.

“I wouldn’t have put any money on scoring, but I got in that position and Jack Harrison saw me in the corner of my eye and laid the ball off to me.

“ I just wanted to hit the target and I hit it straight at the goalkeeper so I think it was a little bit lucky to be honest.

“The three points gives all of the boys a little bit of confidence and this club deserves it after this week with the birthday.

“We’ve been through a tough time in these last few weeks and I think if we keep on playing like that, there is no reason why we can’t get more three points.

“It was a great atmosphere, I’ve never heard anything like it to be fair, with the legends coming on before the game, the fans were like the 12th man out there today and I hope they’ve had a good week.”
