Liam Cooper: Our luck will turn

Skipper on Charlton loss.

Leeds United captain Liam Cooper spoke to LUTV following Saturday’s defeat against Charlton Athletic.

The Whites dominated proceedings at The Valley, but a 32nd minute set-piece goal from the Addicks secured the home side the points.

Cooper was disappointed with the result in London and says the side will be doing everything they can to get back to winning ways at Elland Road against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.

“Once again we started the game well, we dominated possession and the chances, but with one set-piece we conceded, which allowed Charlton to ruin the game, be ugly and slow the game down and that is what they did,” said Cooper.

“Once again we have had the chances to win the game and we can’t keep shooting ourselves in the foot by conceding the goals we are.

“The manager has told us to stay positive, our luck will turn as we are getting nothing at the moment and we will keep going.

“We’ve got to sort it out at conceding set-pieces at that end and the lads have to sort it out at the top end and put some chances away and that is the way it is, we will all be working hard to go again.

“This game will by no means define our season, we have been here before and know the reaction we need.

“We have a great chance to do that on Tuesday night against West Brom who are top of the league, so hopefully we can put on a good performance there.”
