Kalvin Phillips: We need to stop conceding goals late on

Midfielder on Derby County draw.

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips spoke to LUTV following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Derby County.

Derby netted a stoppage time equaliser with their only shot on target, courtesy of substitute Chris Martin and this meant the Whites had to settle for a point.

Phillips felt Leeds deserved all three points and also spoke about the importance of killing games off.

“We’re disappointed and frustrated, we deserved more than a point after being on top for 90 minutes,” said Phillips.

“It’s something we need to work on, to stop conceding goals late on.

“Every week we’ve been the better team and teams like Derby don’t necessarily come to play football, they came here for a point today.

“This frustrates us a little bit as we like teams to come at us, but it’s all about learning to break teams down.

“The second goal is the most important goal and unfortunately we didn’t get that today, but throughout the next few games, if we can get that second goal they’ll be no stopping us”
