Wigan Athletic: Ground guide

Infortmation about the DW Stadium.

The DW Stadium was opened in 1999 and has now been Wigan Athletic's home for 20 years.  The four separate stands are roughly the same height and are all single tiered.  The stadium is also shared with the Wigan Warriors Rugby League club.

Capacity

The Latics’ stadium has a capacity of 25,133 and their record attendance came against Manchester United.  Formerly known as the JJB Stadium, the attendance was 25,133 in a Premier League fixture on the 11th May 2008. Last season Wigan averaged 11,500 for home matches.

Away End

Away fans are located in the North Stand behind the goal, where up to 4,800 visiting supporters can be accommodated. The actual capacity in this stand is 5,550 but the capacity regularly gets decreased, due to low demand for tickets or policing. The food on offer includes a range of Pies, including Chicken Balti, Meat & Potato, Steak, Pea Supper, Cheese & Onion (all £3), Jumbo Sausage Rolls (£2.90), Hot Dogs (£3.50) and Cheeseburgers (£3.80).

Travel

For fans travelling by train the train station is a good 20 minute walk from the ground. The best option is to get a taxi. Alternatively for fans driving, there is a large car park at the stadium, specifically for the use of away supporters, which costs £5 per car.
