Captain on pre-season tour.

Leeds United skipper Liam Cooper spoke to the Australian media after touching down in Perth for the club’s tour Down Under.

The Whites have two pre-season matches in the Southern Hemisphere, coming up against Manchester United on Wednesday and Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday.

Cooper revealed the team are enjoying the experience of visiting Australia and what the rivalry between Leeds United and Manchester United is like.

“It’s great to come and see Perth, with the great facilities and the beautiful city it is,” said Cooper.

“This is a really good chance for the lads and the team to test ourselves against one of the best teams in the world.

“We want to go into the new season with a winning mentality and that has to start now, we want to win every game.

“Being a boy growing up in England, you always knew about the hatred between Leeds United and Manchester United, the fans don’t get along and the games are always good games, we’ve been brought up around that and that is the way it is.

“We want to play this game in the Premier League, we don’t want it to be a pre-season friendly, that is the desire of the club and that is where we want to be.

“The boys are really fit, it has become second nature to us now as we are used to working hard, all of the lads stuck to their programmes in the off season and we came back in good shape.

“We always look forward to the games because you can see how far you have come as a team and an individual, how fit you are and it will be a good judging point.”
