Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips spoke to the official website following Thursday’s fixture release.

The Whites will open the 2019/20 Sky Bet Championship season with an away trip to Bristol City, before taking on Nottingham Forest at Elland Road the following week.

Phillips spoke about the upcoming campaign and heading to Ashton Gate in the first match of the campaign.

“We all know it is going to be a tough season, in this league it doesn’t really matter how you start, it is about how you finish, as we have seen in the last couple of years,” said Phillips.

“We’ll be looking at the fixtures towards the end of the season, we have very good games coming up and we’re looking forward to them getting underway.

“I think a lot more teams will be prepared for us now, but hopefully we will have something up our sleeve and we can start the season how we did last year.

“We played very well against Bristol last season, they like to play football and attack the teams they come up against.

“We’re looking forward to it and hopefully we can get off to a good start.”
