Leeds United’s winless run at Griffin Park, stretching back to 1950 continued, as the Whites were beaten 2-0 by Brentford.

Leeds had the first chance of the game inside three minutes, Luke Ayling played the ball into Patrick Bamford in the Brentford box, but he could only fire wide on the turn.

Returning from injury, captain Liam Cooper made a great challenge to allow Bamford to move up the pitch, he then played Tyler Roberts through one-on-one with Luke Daniels, but a heavy touch allowed the Brentford goalkeeper to make a good stop.

Leeds were dealt an injury blow in the 12th minute, Ezgjan Alioski was withdrawn and replaced by Stuart Dallas.

Neal Maupay then turned well for the home side, allowing Sergi Canos to strike from the edge of the box, but he couldn’t keep his effort down.

Bamford saw what looked like a certain penalty turned away when he was taken down by Julian Jeanvier after poor play in the Bees defence allowed Leeds in, before Adam Forshaw saw a deflected strike go just inches wide at following a corner.

Ollie Watkins then played Maupay into the Leeds box, but Pontus Jansson made a great block to stop his shot.

Canos did really well down the left wing to reach the byline, his low ball into the box found Rico Henry, but Cooper blocked his shot well, deflecting it wide for a corner.

Kiko Casilla then made a superb save to keep the scores level, Canos cut inside from the right and struck from the edge of the box, but the Leeds goalkeeper tipped his strike around the post.

Bamford saw a strike blocked, before Mateusz Klich fired wide from the edge of the Brentford box.

The home side took the lead on the stroke of half time, Canos played Maupay in on goal and he converted from the edge of the box.

Roberts had a great chance to level just after the Brentford goal, he went one-on-one with Daniels, but pulled his shot just wide.

Leeds made a bright start to the second half, first Dallas saw a strike tipped over, before Pablo Hernandez curled an effort wide from the resulting corner.

Klich then found Bamford in the Brentford box, but he could only strike his effort over the crossbar.

Roberts did well down the right flank before firing a low ball into the Brentford box, Daniels palmed it out into the path of Bamford, but he couldn’t keep the ball in play under pressure.

Brentford doubled their lead in the 62nd minute, Maupay played Canos through and his dinked effort found the net.

Maupay nearly made it three two minutes later, the ball fell nicely for him to take an acrobatic strike from just inside the Leeds box, with his attempt going just over.

Hernandez then struck over for the Whites, before Daniels produced a really good stop to deny Klich following a cut back by Leeds substitute Jack Clarke.

Neither side produced anything of note in the closing stages, as the home side saw out the win, denting Leeds’ hopes of automatic promotion.
