We look back at five encounters.

Ahead of Easter Monday's Sky Bet Championship clash between Leeds United and Brentford at Griffin Park, we look at five encounters between the two sides.

 

Saturday 6th March 2010- Leeds United 1 Brentford 1

Brentford visited Elland Road for the first time since 1961 in March 2010, in a season Leeds United went on to win promotion from League One.  Ben Stevens got Brentford ahead in the second half from a corner, but Jermaine Beckford levelled the scores with his first strike in seven matches after being set up by Gary McSheffrey.  Lubomir Michalik hit the post late on for the Whites, who had to settle for a point.


Tuesday 26th January 2016- Brentford 1 Leeds United 1

The Whites headed to Brentford, looking to pick up a rare three points at Griffin Park.  Brentford started the brighter of the sides aiming to put Leeds’ slim hopes of the Play-Offs to bed and reignite their own charge to the top six. The Bees controlled the first half and opened the scoring through a fine strike from Sam Saunders.Leeds searched for the equaliser and loan man Mustapha Carayol got it with a superb curling effort from outside the box.


Tuesday 17th December 2016- Leeds United 1 Brentford 0

Another memorable match between these two teams was in the 2016/17 season as Leeds left it late to snatch all three points at Elland Road. Leeds dominated proceedings throughout the match however couldn’t find the elusive goal. Kyle Bartley was the hero after he headed home a Stuart Dallas cross to send the Leeds fans wild. This win kept Leeds in the playoffs after 22 matches.

 

Saturday 24th February 2018- Leeds United 1 Brentford 0

Then Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom got his first win in charge of Leeds United against Brentford at Elland Road in this fixture, with both sides still in the hunt fro the Play-Offs in the Championship.  Leeds dominated the majority of the game and created several chances, with Liam Cooper's headed goal in the 31st minute proving to be the difference between the two sides.

 

Saturday 6th October 2018- Leeds United 1 Brentford 1

The most recent meeting between these two sides was this season back in October in a dramatic 1-1 draw. Leeds started the game brightly, however a controversial penalty was awarded to Brentford after Ollie Watkins was deemed to have been fouled by Bailey Peacock-Farrell. Brentford’s top scorer Neal Maupay converted calmly before celebrating in front of the South Stand. It wasn’t until the 89th minute until Leeds got a deserved equaliser as Pontus Jansson headed home from a floated Ezgjan Alioski free kick.
