Marcelo Bielsa: I am proud of the team

Head coach on Preston North End win.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Preston North End.

A second half brace from striker Patrick Bamford secured the Whites all three points at Deepdale in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Whites bounced back from defeat at Birmingham City at the weekend and Bielsa was pleased with the performance.

“The first half was the best moment to make an evaluation of the team, it was a very difficult game, but we could impose in the first half,” said Bielsa.

We played against one team who I like how they play, I like their style, their coach and the players they have to do their style who know their lines.

“We overcame the opponent with a lot of effort in the first half where the physical tempo of the game was very high.

“In the second half after the red card we solved this game more easily, until the last minute they created one ball in the channel, then they created the chance.

“I am proud of the team because all the players played at a high level of performance.”

Bielsa also spoke about striker Bamford who netted both goals.

Bielsa said: “He didn’t play well against Millwall.

“Against Birmingham he increased his level and his performance and he had three chances at goal, which is positive for strikers.

“He improved his previous performance on Tuesday in the game with two goals and a lot of work for the team.”
