Leeds UnitedLeeds United moved back to the top of the Sky Bet Championship table with an emphatic victory over fellow promotion rivals West Bromwich Albion.

Leeds made an unbelievable start to the match, taking the lead inside 16 seconds.  Jack Harrison drove down the left flank before finding Pablo Hernandez in the centre and he unleashed a wonderful strike from 20 yards, finding the top left corner, to erupt the sold out Elland Road.

The Whites then went close through Tyler Roberts, following some good play by Luke Ayling down the right, he found Hernandez who crossed, but the Wales international couldn’t get enough on his effort to beat Sam Johnstone.

Kalvin Phillips then stole possession before making ground and firing on goal, forcing Sam Johnstone into a good stop.

Leeds doubled the advantage in the 28th minute, Roberts played Bamford through on goal with a neat pass and the striker slotted home his second goal in three matches.

West Brom threatened when Jay Rodriguez struck from long range, forcing Kiko Casilla into a really good stop, tipping his effort over the crossbar.

From the resulting corner, the Baggies again went close, with Tosin Aradabioyo heading wide under pressure.

Hernandez and Bamford both saw strikes from distance go over before the break and Leeds nearly added a third from a low corner, which was flicked on by Luke Aying, but cleared from the feet of Pontus Jansson.

After the break, West Brom had a good opportunity from a free-kick, Gareth Barry delivered and Hal Robson-Kanu had a free header, but put the chance wide.

Roberts then showed some fine skill against his former side to break into the West Brom box, before teeing up Mateusz Klich, who was denied by a really smart stop from Johnstone.

Leeds extended their lead in the 64th minute.  The Whites broke up the pitch and Roberts played in Bamford and his deflected strike found the back of the net- his third goal in as many games.

Leeds were in a rampant mood and Alioski nearly added a fourth from distance, with his deflected effort going narrowly wide.

With four minutes remaining, Klich hit strike from 25 yards, forcing Johnstone into another decent stop.

In stoppage time, the Whites sealed the victory in style.  Substitute Jamie Shackleton did really well to break into the Baggies box and he teed up Alioski to tap home from close range, capping off a wonderful team performance.
