KIKO CASILLA: THE FANS HAVE GOT A MASSIVE ROLE TO PLAY

Goalkeeper praises support.

Goalkeeper Kiko Casilla completed a January move from Real Madrid to Leeds United and has since gone on to become first choice shot stopper for the Whites, making four appearances to date.

Speaking exclusively to the official matchday programme for Saturday’s fixture with Bolton Wanderers, Casilla spoke about what it is like to play at Elland Road, the influence of the fans and how the Whites have to focus on themselves and do their job.

You’ve played at Elland Road a couple of times now, how have you enjoyed that experience?

“It is incredible.  If we want to go up to the Premier League the fans have got a massive role to play.  The atmosphere at Elland Road is the best environment to be in, to help us go up.  I knew when I came to Leeds that there would be a good atmosphere at home games, but it was even more incredible than I imagined.”

Leeds had a great win against Swansea City last time out, how important is it to put together a good run of results now?

“It is a really important part of the season.  To get a couple of victories in a row is going to be crucial.  The best example of how we can do this is by playing similar football to what we did against Swansea.  Everyone is concentrated, the style of football is really intense and this is path we need to go down to get to where we want to be.”

It’s an important game on Saturday, especially with the way other results have gone in the division...

“We don’t need to look at the other teams around us.  If we focus in on what we are going to do and go out and get a win, there will be no other problems to worry about.  We have to go out and get our win.”
