MARCELO BIELSA ON KIKO CASILLA ARRIVAL

Head coach speaks to the media.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media on Thursday, following the arrival of goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

Casilla arrives from Spanish giants Real Madrid on a four-and-a-half year contract, with his deal running until the summer of 2023.

Bielsa was pleased that the club have been able to capture a player of Casilla’s pedigree.

“Of course we needed an alternative for the goalkeeper position and Casilla’s career speaks for itself,” said Bielsa.

“The fact that he has chosen to play at Leeds is a success for this institution.

“Victor Orta is responsible for the signing of Kiko Casilla and the compatibility of his skills with our style of play has been done by Marcos Abad our goalkeeper coach.

“The fact that the goalkeeper of Real Madrid comes to Leeds, I think the owner of the club should be proud of being able to attract this kind of player.

“I think he is a complete player, he is good with the aerial game, he is a good player when he has to block shots from the opponent, he is a player with personality, he is good with his feet as well and with balls in the air.

“We can’t say one of these aspects is a strong point, but I don’t see any weak points.

“Today was his first training session with us, he won’t play against Stoke even if he is fit, we will see his evolution in the next few days.”
