MARCELO BIELSA: IT WAS A HARD WIN

Head coach on Bolton Wanderers victory.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media following Saturday’s victory over Bolton Wanderers.

The Whites were 1-0 winners at the University of Bolton Stadium thanks to a second half strike from substitute Patrick Bamford.

Bielsa spoke about the result which took Leeds to the top of the Sky Bet Championship.

“It was a hard win,” said Bielsa.

“It was a deserved win, but a hard one.

“We had the possession but we didn’t create enough chances to score.

“With the possession we had, we should have created more chances- but this wasn’t the case.

“I felt that if we didn’t concede any goals that we would have the opportunity to score one."

Bielsa also spoke about the influence of Bamford who got the crucial goal, with the striker making his first appearance for the first team since August.

He said: “For Patrick, the goal is very good for his confidence.

“He’s worked very hard to gain back his sports fitness and for us to have two strikers and goal-scorers in our team is very important.

“It is very difficult to play in an offensive position and to have different possibilities in offensive positions, but today we had Jack Clarke, Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford and Tyler Roberts on the bench.

“Patrick can be very important in the second half of the season, I’ve always had the idea of having 18 starters inside the team and also to have some young players to cover the necessities of the team.

“In this case we have Jamie Shackleton, Jack Clarke, Will Huffer and Aapo Halme who have come to the Academy and have been helping us very much."
