JAMIE SHACKLETON: WE HAD TO DIG IN

Right-back speaks to LUTV.

Jamie Shackleton was handed his first home league start on Saturday as Leeds came from behind to beat Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road.

A double from Kemar Roofe, ensured the Whites came away with all three points and a fourth successive victory.

Shackleton admitted it was an important win for Leeds, who increased the gap in the automatic promotion places in the table and playing in front of the 33,781 in attendance.

“It was a well fought victory,” said Shackleton.

“We had to dig in and do the dirty side of the game towards the end, but these are the type of wins you have to get in the Championship.

“Sometimes teams come to play and sometimes teams come to try and take a point and I think that’s what QPR tried to do, but I thought we dealt with it well and overcame them in the end.

“We’ve been unfortunate with injuries this season, especially in defence, so it is important I am ready to step in and play when needed and it was special to play in front of a full house at Elland Road.

“It was important to show a reaction after the West Brom game and the international break, to win four games on the bounce shows we are a strong side and we will look to continue that now."
