MARCELO BIELSA: SHEFFIELD UNITED\'S IDEAS DESERVE TO BE STUDIED

Head coach on Sheffield United.

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa spoke to the media ahead of Saturday’s Yorkshire derby with Sheffield United.

The Whites head to Bramall Lane, looking for a third successive victory in the Sky Bet Championship.

Ahead of the clash, Bielsa had special praise for Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder.

“I would say the Sheffield United head coach is someone with new ideas and I have seen very few people with these ideas,” said Bielsa.

“Head coaches look at colleagues to learn from them and we want to learn new things, not what everyone else is doing.

“Usually when you observe someone, you don’t observe what you see everyday, you observe new things.

“The ideas of our next opponent deserve to be studied.

“What I try to do is make the public realise the different styles of football and my goal is to make the fans value this part of the game, which they wouldn’t normally value.

“When I am talking about these features of the opponent, I have the same goal.

“I saw things in Sheffield United that I wanted to develop and I couldn’t do it, I I don’t know the history of the head coach, but he has done very well.”

Bielsa also gave an injury update on Pontus Jansson who has missed the last two games.

“Pontus will be available for the game and ready to play.

“I have seen very few players with his consistency with his weight and height.

“I haven’t seen that many players with that weight and height who can have the same response as a full-back.

“The only fact that makes me doubt my conclusions is that he is not playing at the highest level, which may mean my conclusions about him are wrong.”
